During the winter months in Southwest Florida, it is simply paradise. With the ability to wear athletic shorts or short pants, t-shirts, short sleeve polo’s, athletic shoes, sandals, flip-flops or beach water shoes, It is easy to forget the winter weather of snow, ice, and bitter cold in the rest of the US.
I rarely concern myself with the weather only checking my own area of Fort Myers to determine the temperatures for my morning walk, which can fluctuate between 60-70 degrees and sometimes a layer of fog settles in and does not lift until nine am.
I recently viewed the forecast for the entire east coast of the US from Georgia to Main and discovered their experiencing or going to experience a major ice and snowstorm with some areas receiving in access of 8-10 inches of snow and 2-4 inches of ice.
The 24 hours of inconvenience has people scurrying around believing they will not be able to move about and starve for food. It is only 24 hours or less in most location people!
A quick look at the future forecast beyond the storm reveal that all areas affected will see temperatures the following day will be well above the freezing mark and in some places within 2-3 days this will be a memory and the snow will have melted and life will return to normal.
So people just calm down, or move to a warmer climate, but just beware that within six months it is July and the heat, humidity will remain above 95 degrees for several weeks, and this storm will be a loving wish!
As I write this for my blog, I believe I will sit out on the lanai and soak up this warm weather and overcast skies, thanking my lucky stars I chose to retire to southwest coast of FL!
