I shall meet my fate?

As I read this prompt several days ago I recognized the word “Yeats” and thought of the Irish/English poet William Butler Yeats and I began to ponder how I shall meet my fate. I researched some of his poems and found the following poem, that I feel touches on the subject.

He wrote this poem for his intended love.

When you are old and grey and full of sleep,
And nodding by the fire, take down this book,
And slowly read, and dream of the soft look
Your eyes had once, and of their shadows deep;
How many loved your moments of glad grace,
And loved your beauty with love false or true,
But one man loved the pilgrim Soul in you,
And loved the sorrows of your changing face;
And bending down beside the glowing bars,
Murmur, a little sadly, how Love fled
And paced upon the mountains overhead
And hid his face amid a crowd of stars.

William Butler Yeats Poet 1865-1939, 1923 Nobel Prize Literature Winner

I know that I shall meet my fate at any time, even possibly before I finish this blog post, from a stroke of lighting from a nearby thunderstorm.

Oh well, I have lived an incredible life filled with family, a great education, a satisfying career, raising a family of two offspring, and I have capped it off with a retirement, however, I am not slowing down and I have a bucket list still to complete.

So fate is chasing me or waiting until it is my time. I so love my life that I guess fate will become old, grey and diminish in time and we, will both go together when its my time.

However every morning I awake with opening my eyes, and heart pumping, I know fate didn’t take me in my sleep, and it didn’t take me before I posted this blog.

I shall meet my fate at any time and know that she and I have enjoyed the time together however, when I leave this earthly place, those of you left can smile knowing that I’m happy and in love with my fate.

    Only a few are courageous to meet their fate sooner or later. I am glad you are one of them. Seems happiness and contentment are the essentials. Knowing we did not waste our time doing nothing. Although time is always not enough to accomplish more. Your words are inspiring for us to seek happiness and our best effort to accomplish what we want in life befofe fate comes in and take us to anoher paradise.
