Congrats! You’re the owner of a new time machine. The catch? It comes in two models, each traveling one way only: the past OR the future. Which do you choose, and why?
As a child and adult I often dreamed of time travel, and after watching the movie “Back to the Future”, I was really into believing, I wanted to travel back in time or into the future. However, understanding the space-time continuum, my thoughts changed after I understood how critical tampering with my past could affect my present time period either negative or positive. I don’t want to change a thing of my present for fear I would have to do something over.
As far as my future, I want to make it up as I go. I feel we have better control of our future than anything else in our lives. Now, as the prompt asks, which would I chose, I would sell the device to the government or some mad scientist, take the money and be happy with whatever I received and live the rest of my life happy and content.
Because I know how ignorant our government can be or how a mad scientist would use it to their monitory benefit, I would destroy a key part of the device to prevent someone from changing my past, present or future.
