Reader’s Block

What’s the longest you’ve ever gone without reading a book (since learning how to read, of course)? Which book was it that helped break the dry spell?

EBook’s and the nostalgia for a book

Todays prompt is one of two of my daily passions. It has been just over a year that I began reading to the point that I now consider myself a “Book Nerd”. I keep at least five to eight books, in my book bag to read during the day. Once I discovered audible books, I greatly increased my book consumption to 3-4 a month as I walk 3-4 miles a day. I read books like I use to watch television with the remote in my hand, changing channels constantly.

My most recent dry spell was for one week in August and again in September when I focused more on establishing my blogs on several different sites. When I’m writing a short story or writing something for one my blogs, I stress myself about how much reading I could be accomplishing. I’m very passionate about my reading and writing, I just need more time in a twenty-four hour day to give equal time to both.

  1. I read all the time. The most I go without reading is a day or two at the most. This year, I challenged myself to read 80 books. I just finished book number 73 and am 20% through #74. I won’t read as much during November because I participate in NaNoWriMo every year so I’ll be busy writing then but I’ve got a bit of a lead so I should reach my 80 book goal by Dec. 31.

    1. Hey Corina, I to will be participating in the NaNoWriMo set for next month. I, like you am trying to get through another three books before the end of the month so I can focus on NaNoWriMo event. I set my Goodreads challenge at 35, and I’m at 23, so I have a shot at completion. Good luck in next months event.

  2. My wife loves to read, as does my mum. My mum is going to retire in perhaps another decade, so I know reading will take up an even greater portion of her life.

What do you find yourself reading lately? Is it fiction, nonfiction or both?

    1. I have for some reason lately, been reading biographies. I have read, four so far and I have three more I want to finish before the end of the month. I love my Sci-Fi, especially, Star Trek paperback novels. I really don’t see those as challenging reading, as I can read those within a day. Earlier this year, I focused a lot of research and reading on the American Civil War and Slavery.
