The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Bone of Contention.”
Pick a contentious issue about which you care deeply — it could be the same-sex marriage debate, or just a disagreement you’re having with a friend. Write a post defending the opposite position, and then reflect on what it was like to do that.
I rarely if at all post anything political on my Aspiring Writer site, however a daily prompt has forced the issue.
As an intern I write articles for an online site titled, Tremr.com and when I read the prompt several days ago, I immediately thought of the article I wrote about the issues bloggers in other countries have and who cannot utilize their freedoms of speech as freely as I do in America.
Raif Badawi, is a Saudi Arabian blogger who was imprisoned for starting a liberal online forum to encourage discussion and debate in his country.
So all of my writers, bloggers, and poets with your next posting take a few minutes to appreciate the freedoms we all share while others cannot.
This concludes the once yearly posting outside of my norm.
