“Re-springing Your Step”

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Re-springing Your Step.”

Tell us about the last experience you had that left you feeling fresh, energized, and rejuvenated. What was it that had such a positive effect on you?

I recently experience a feeling of energized rejuvenation after a one and a half hour leg workout at my local gym. I worked my gluteus muscles, hamstrings, calves, and quadriceps, on several of the machines.

I finished up my workout with thirty minutes of a cardio run-walking and thirty on the bicycle. I was sweating profusely with a soaked t-shirt and shorts.

So. as I left the gym and walked to my car, I was feeling happier than a Blue-Jay singing on a bright sunny morning. My energy drifted to my feet as I began skipping towards my car, when suddenly I tripped over my own feet. I tumbled to the ground like a sack of russet potatoes falling from a truck to the ground in a mighty thud.

I rolled along the ground, springing to my feet like an African lion, mostly out of embarrassment, as I stood in front of my car. One of the regular patrons of the gym drove past me, asking if I was ok.

I turned towards her and quickly stated, I was practicing a stunt move for an upcoming play in a musical and I felt rejuvenated knowing I nailed the maneuver.

She chuckled, smiled and said. “You had a spring in your step before you began skipping”. I smiled and thought to myself, I did have a spring in my step but, I now have a dent in my ego, knowing I couldn’t skip without tripping over my own feet. She smiled and drove away.

I shook my head in disbelief and sheepishly entered my car thinking, I at least felt rejuvenated.
