In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Burnt.”
Remember this prompt, when your home was on fire and you got to save five items? That means you left a lot of stuff behind. What are the things you wish you could have taken, but had to leave behind?
This above prompt is an extension of what I wrote about the day before asking what I wish I could have retrieved but left to burn in the home after I left with what are the essential of my life.
Since I have the luxury to consider this prompt with such thought, I would have been better prepared by having luggage filled with essentials, like clothing, toiletry items, some dog food and the dogs feeding bowls.
Attachment of and with superfluous sentimental items causes second guessing in a time of stress like a fire which can lead to death. It is before the fire or any emergency the assessment of life should be made.
Since most people take assessment daily with their blessings and prayers, I answered the prompt with, I wish for nothing from my home that burned.
If I’m writing this blog, after the fire and you are reading it, my answer is,I left nothing behind, it is my health and safety and that of my children and especially the dog who alerted us all to escape.
No second thoughts when family are safe you are alive8
