In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “(Your Thing) for Dummies.”

Take a complicated subject you know more about than most people, and explain it to a friend who knows nothing about it at all

I enjoy many hobbies, however Geocaching is one I get excited about whenever I travel. Geocaching is one hobby for the entire family, and it can be played on any continent around the world.

The hobby is essentially a hide and seek game using a dedicated GPS device or using an application for your smart phone to locate caches located in the most unusual places.

The cache can range in size from a bottle cap to large five gallon buckets. There are virtual caches, that give the searcher an opportunity to learn about a park, monument, museum, lakes, and oceans, throughout the world. You can Geocahe by foot, bicycle, kayak, canoe, hiking, and of course by car.

There are specific caches for children and to see a child locate a cache will bring a smile to the face of any adult. The Youtube channel has hundreds of videos detailing the type, adventures and shrewd ways to Geocache.

For those who are into puzzles, there are Geocaches for you also. Click on the link above and checkout the world of Geocaching and if you have an adventurous spirit you will be hooked.

This is a great adventure game for which many local, state and Federal Parks collaborate with the Geocaching community to drive traffic to the parks. The Geocacher decides the level of challenge they want to tackle. Great for kids couples, young or old and it gets the body in motion. Check out the website and look for a Geocacher near your home. Enjoy your Valentine’s Day!
