“We Built This City, By Bicycle”

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “We Built This City.

What do you love most about the city / town / place that you live in? What do you like the least about it? If you were mayor, what would be the most important problem you’d tackle? How would you tackle it?

I love the Southwest Florida area because of the warm temperatures, access to the beaches, fishing the tributaries, rivers and the Gulf of Mexico.

Throughout the year it area shines with pure beauty, yet there are times when the summer rains provide torrential down pours to dazzle the mind, yet within thirty minutes after the rains, the ground is dry.

I enjoy traveling by bicycle along the bicycle trails within my community providing me access to the recreational center, parks, library, grocery store, and restaurants.

If I were mayor, the budget would include the installation of lights along portions of the bicycle trails to encourage night-time riding to and from businesses, parks and recreational facilities.

As time moves forward and the ever-growing retirement population increases, it would benefit the community greatly to have an infrastructure of lighting along the bicycle trails and the beauty of the soft lighting will enhance the overall area and community look.
