In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Cringe-Worthy.”

Do you feel uncomfortable when you see someone else being embarrassed? What’s most likely to make you squirm?

Recently I was writing at the beach under a pavilion when a mature loving couple, walking along the sidewalk. The woman was pushing forward a walker and the gentleman using a cane, when suddenly the man stumbles, and falls from the sidewalk into in the sand.

I cringed at seeing his impact and I immediately ran over to assist him to his feet. As I arrive the woman is laughing aloud. She tells me that he is alright, and the man looks up to me while spitting sand out of his mouth.

He, quickly tells me that he is ok, as I hand him his cane. He starts laughing as he points to the woman and says, “I was supposed to be helping my wife.”

I helped walk them both to their tandem tricycle and secured her walker and his folding cane into the basket behind their seats. However, as they peddled away into the roadway, I cringed and squirmed when I realized the older gentleman’s folding cane was for the sight impaired.

I always feel bad for people who do something stupid (aka human) and people are laughing at them instead of trying to help. Being pretty outspoken at times, I will definitely call out mockers.
