Those Dishes Won’t Do Themselves

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Those Dishes Won’t Do Themselves.

What’s the household task you most dislike doing? Why do you think it is or is it the task itself or something more.

Oh yes, the chore of cleaning and washing dishes, has become a task that is dreaded by many if not for the invention of paper plates and the dishwasher.

When I became an empty nester, the chore of cleaning became easier yet it was during the remodeling of the kitchen I invested in a 3-level electronic dishwasher to solve my dishwashing dilemma for good. This was then supplemented with a party I had leaving me with an over abundance of paper plates and plastic utensils.

After several months, I observed a layer of dust that startled me, and would have scared most people.

Dusting was the bane of my existence, that I dreaded more than any household task. On a visit to the local hardware store to buy some household furnace filters. I discovered 3M filters and my dusting problem was reduced to two or three times a year.

I know home cleaning aficionados may say, dusting two or three times a year is a travesty, but my compulsive disorder associated with cleaning my bathroom and kitchen relentlessly, I’m satisfied with dusting less than three times a year.

I quite enjoy dusting, something about seeing sparkling clean surfaces. (although my family would probably want to know why I don’t dust more if I enjoy it)
