In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Linger.”

Tell us about times in which you linger — when you don’t want an event, or a day to end. What is it you love about these times? Why do you wish you could linger forever?

As a young child, the word “linger” was used by older men in my community to describe lazy people. So, I tried to always keep busy. However, as a hyperactive child, lingering was never an issue for me.

There are occasions, I sit on the beach for hours on end, reading and writing. I wish time will stand still forever, allowing me to linger to enjoy the moment. Although, I’m still a little hyperactive, but riding my bicycle takes the edge off of my desires to keep moving.

As my life moves forward, I’m learning to take my time, and to not feel guilty when I linger doing anything I want, and to enjoy the moment as long as I can. So, basically, I’m learning to linger.

My recent purchase of a 35-mm camera allowed me to linger for several days. Yet, as each day becomes night I continue to linger enjoying my night photos.

As I draft this posting, the song “Linger” by the Cranberries comes to mind. Listen to the song and learn to linger and enjoy the moment.
