“The Zone”

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “The Zone.”

Tell us about your favorite way to get lost in a simple activity — running, chopping vegetables, folding laundry, whatever. What’s it like when you’re in “the zone”?

The Twilight Zone

I easily find myself in the Twilight Zone of walking, bicycling, or typing.

During my walks or riding my bicycle, I listen to music or a book and easily move into the “zone.” I have on occasion traveled beyond my final designated location forgetting to awake from my zone.

I’ve achieved the mental zone during typing.

When I prepare an outline of my ideas, the plots, along with the details and backgrounds of my characters, I easily find myself in a different dimension where time and place appear to merge.

Once I start to type, I close my eyes and my fingers simply flow easily across the keyboard revealing the words in my heart while defining my emotions and thoughts. I’ve achieved and maintained this out of body experience for up to thirty minutes or more.

Bridging the connection between my mind, emotions and body with perfect symmetry accomplishing something I’m passionately love, is being in the zone.
