“Mix Tape MasterPiece”

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Mix Tape Masterpiece.”

You make a new friend. Make them a mix tape (or playlist, for the younger folks) that tells them who you are through song.

At my age, I’m recall the mix tap vividly, as I recorded music from the radio, and since the unavailability of a recording device to record to a cassette tape, eight track tape, or reel to reel, our conversation will be limited to discussing what forms of music we like.

I have several musical playlist in my iTunes, I have set up on my own and my playlist includes the past fifty or more years of music, covering everything, except country music up to 1960’s. If I’m talking to someone new, I will not provide a mix tape or play list, because my music is stored digitally, available for me to listen across all of my electronic devices via a cloud service.

However, if I’m talking with someone as young as my son or daughter, I will be surprised, since most millennial only communicate through a text message or email.

I remember the mix tape very well, lol. Like you, I now have many different playlists and they vary from a combination of all genres. I love Doo Wop music the best though because it always had meaning, and it moves my soul like no other music can. Going to see the Drifters was the first (and last) concert I ever went to, and getting the chance to meet Charlie Thomas and shake his hand left me in awe, haha. Sorry, rambled there for a bit. Thanks for the memories <3

No problem with the ramble, as I read your comments and I smiled and thought of Lauren Hills, Doo-Wop,https://youtu.be/T6QKqFPRZSA

It’s been a while since I heard that song, so thank you for the link! 🙂

I still have mix tapes people have made me over the years. And tapes, that still play, from when I was a kid in the 80s!
