“Celebrate Good Times”

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Celebrate Good Times.”

You receive some wonderful, improbable, hoped-for good news. How do you celebrate?

reflection

Celebrating good times is a very useful prompt because today is my birthday, and I’m celebrating on the wonderfully warm island in Key West Florida.

Birthdays are universally celebrated identifying the day, time and moment a child is delivered from the mother’s birth canal, hence the word birthday.

However, years ago, my sisters knowing our mother carried us full term, we I counted in reverse from the month our birth dates revealed our conception dates coincided with our parents birthday, or a holiday.

So, this year I will celebrate not only my birthday but also my conception day, which is my father’s birthday.

Now, if you are curiously counting in reverse to discover your conception date or you are repulsed by the idea of your parents conceiving you, just consider some form of celebration took place during conception.

For me, I will celebrate my birthday with friends, cooking seafood recipes, with wine, mixed drinks and I will end to the day with a fine cigar.

Happy Birthday! I recall reading that certain cultures actually celebrate one’s conception day. I can’t remember which culture, though-that bit of information is buried in the deep recesses of my cluttered mind.
Do remember to enjoy the sunset party on Duvall Square.

Happy late birthday. I actually read this at work on your birthday, but I have a limited amount of time to eat. I apologise for not being able to say as much earlier. I hope it was an enjoyable celebration for you!
