“Going Obsolete”

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Going Obsolete.”

Of all the technologies that have gone extinct in your lifetime, which one do you miss the most?

Words of wisdom

There are a lot of technologies that have gone extinct in my lifetime, however, there are none from my past I miss.

One of the earliest technologies I enjoyed was my blue transistor radio with white ear piece. I would listen to my favorite R&B, AM radio station, and the St. Louis Baseball Cardinals.

During my teen years, before I obtained my drivers license, I attached a large AM/FM cassette radio, (AKA Boom Box) with stereo speakers to my 10-speed bicycle. I was so cool!

My next technology purchases were my “Sony Walkman, ” “CD & portable DVD Player”.

None of these technological purchases tops my first desk top computer, and the day I showed my son how to use it. During our time together he asked, did I have a computer when I was his age.

His question gave me pause to recall the numerous innovations I experienced since my transistor radio. However, right now none of the technologies of the past are more enjoyable than my various Apple products I currently use.
