“Well, I Never”

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Well, I Never….”

Tell us about something you’ve done that you would advise a friend never to do.

I spent some time narrowing down my list to the night I jumped out of a college dorm window.

I raced several friends down my dorm stair-well to be the first to arrive on the bottom floor. I found myself out maneuvered and unable to gain the inside position to arrive first.

I was taking two and three steps at a time, when, I approached the landing between floors, and noticed an opened window. My quick decision making skills went into motion.

I calculated my weight at 200 pounds, the velocity of jumping out of the window, giving me the edge to arrive on the ground floor first. I even calculated the risk of landing away from the opening of the door and into the grass to ease the impact.

I put went one leg out of the window and jumped and yes I was first on the ground floor, and I won.

I felt no pain with no broken bones, as I danced and yelled with excitement. But, the following morning just before lunch, my knees, ankles, and hips were sore with stiffness and pain.

The lessons learned from the experience is never run while intoxicated, unless it is a life of death.

Also never jump from the window in a stairwell, because the second floor window was actually the third floor window.
