“Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This),”

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This).”

What is the best dream you’ve ever had? Recount it for us in all its ethereal glory. If no dream stands out in your memory, recount your worst nightmare. Leave no frightening detail out.

Dreams, dreams, dreams, whether good, bad or nightmarish. Analyzing your dreams can be used to interpreted the present, the future, or understanding the past.

Six months prior to my  retirement. I had reoccurring visually detailed dreams of me relaxing on a chaise lounge. Under a beach umbrella, on a white sandy beach, looking out towards the Gulf of Mexico.

On a table next to me was a glass filled with my favorite dark spice rum, mixed with cola and ice. In my hands was my iPad, and I was reading Ernest Hemingway’s, “The Old Man and The Sea,” on my kindle app.

A warm gentle sea breeze caresses over me as I look up to see dolphins swimming past. I lay my head back and ease into a soft sleep. Suddenly, I’m awakened by someone shaking my shoulder.
It is a coworker standing over me, telling me, it was time to go!

Some would say waking up from such a wonderful dream is a nightmare back to reality.  I interpreted the dream, to provide me with the knowledge of what I wanted to do in retirement.

That’s what “Sweet Dreams are made of.”

A lovely dream you experienced. I dream of people I used to know, and usually they bring good news. I write of paranormal dreams in my fiction. I have those kind of dreams too.

Since I began interacting with many in the writing community, I have discovered an entirely intriguing group of paranormal writers with various ideas for books. Many use dreams as a spring board for their imaginations to writer.

It is quite inspiring I believe.

It has always been a part of my life, even as a very young child. I know that the Universe has many surprises in store for us. I hope they are all pleasant.

As I hope they are and they will be.
