“Missing Sequels”

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Missing Sequels.”

If you could create a sequel to one favorite (standalone) movie, which would it be? How would it build on the original?

I would love to have the motion picture movie Grand Torino sequel to be a romance.

Retired auto worker and Korean War veteran Walt Kowalski played by Clint Eastwood, fills the emptiness of his life after the death of his wife, with beer and home repair. He despises the cultural influx of Asian, Latino, and black families into his neighborhood.

He becomes a reluctant friend and hero to the Asian teen living next door who attempted to steal his Grand Torino, as an initiation to join the local Asian gang.

An unlikely friendship develops between Walt and the teen. He discovers he has more in common with his neighbors than he thought. Walt challenges the Asian gang who harassed, and assaulted the teen’s family.

Walt’s show-down with the Asian gang proves fatal.

However, in the sequel, I would like Walt survives to win the heart and fall in love with the teenager’s mother. It would be great to see Walt’s actions when he confronts male suitors arriving to date his stepdaughter and watch the young Asian teen grow into a man.

Or, I could write the sequel, for Walt to fall in love with the tobacco spitting Asian grandmother since they are closer in age. 🙂
