“Daily Ritual”

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Daily Ritual.”

Think about your day. Select one of your daily rituals and explain it to us: why do you do what you do? How did you come to adopt this ritual? What happens on days when you can’t perform it?

I have a daily ritual routine of exercising until my heart is pumping rapidly, and I am sweating profusely. However, it is still the rainy season here in Southwest Florida, so mother nature’s recent early morning thunder rumblings and lightening shows, have easily discouraged and interrupted my daily routine.

When I cannot perform my daily morning ritual, I’m never upset, especially when mothers natures speaks, and I understand there is always the following morning.

My daily ritual is reading a meditation about living with mental illness. Each day has a topic and then a question for you and last an affirmation. I’ve been doing this on and off for years. This particular book I started a year ago. It grounds me and makes me think. If I don’t do it one day it’s fine, but I rarely let it go past 2. I need it and it gives me a focus for the day, all positive.

Can you send me the name of the book/meditation you are reading. It sounds pretty interesting. http://www.artseafartsea.com

Marion, I’m not reading any meditation books now, however, I would suggest some Emily Dickinson of which I have become engrossed with for the past twenty-four hours. 🙂

Not beating up yourself over not been able to fulfill a daily routine for just a day is a great idea. Even daily routines get seasonal breaks…lol !
