Day 4: Imperfect, Limerick, Enjambment; “Paddling Adventure”

We find faults in ourselves, in others, and in the world around us all the time. We may accept these imperfections or complain about them, try to fix them or celebrate them — whatever our attitude may be, they add friction and texture to our lives.

The limerick at a glance:
• Limericks are traditionally composed of five lines of verse.
• The traditional rhyming scheme of a limerick is a a b b a — the first two lines rhyme, then the next two, and the final verse rhymes with the first couplet.

Today, I wrote a poem about the nature of wildlife.

Paddling Adventure

It stared at me, with one eye,

Fear makes me paddle bye, bye,

I think it was a Manatee

Whew; it’s not following me,

I think it gave me the eye!

Oh I would love to see one up close…but maybe not from a kayak!

      They are everywhere.

Most people worry about the Alligators, who are never in the water swimming around your kayak.

I’m more concern with the Manatees who appear to be more curious and are always larger than my kayak. 🙂
