“Trains Planes Motorcycle & Automobiles”

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Trains, Planes, and Automobiles.”

You’re going on a cross-country trip. Airplane, train, bus, or car? (Or something else entirely — bike? Hot air balloon?)

quote-intro

I have crossed the US by plane, automobile, motorcycle, large truck, and half of the country by train. I plan to complete the train trip soon.

During a motorcycle trip to Fairbanks Alaska one summer, I kept passing bicyclist traveling south. One day, I had the opportunity to speak with one of the bicyclists. I asked him where were the bicyclists destination. He stated, he and the other bicyclists were riding from Fairbanks Alaska to Key West Florida.

Now, if the last sentenced raised your eyebrow, you could never imagine how I looked when he told me in person. Our conversation was like many I have had during my travels, talking about our past journeys. We later said our good-byes and we returned to our travels. After my encounter, I am considering crossing the US on a bicycle, and it is a part of my bucket list.

Over the years, my family & friends are amazed at my travels, and I can only imagine the family of the bicyclist looked upon his trip similar to mine and wondered why not fly arriving sooner to enjoy the destination.

As a nomadic traveler, the destination is another starting point. The travel time in between two points using any form of transportation provides encounters with incredible people and the beautiful scenery of traveling.

I have often wondered on the cross country biking. Here in the West our climate is ever so changing that I feel sorry sometimes for the bicyclists but yet…………the scenery would be incredible. However, with my photography I would probably not get very far each day as I would have to stop and take pictures of so much…..LOL Have a wonderful day….Hugz

MLou, I would also spend way too much time taking photos, that’s why I’m considering a Go-Pro camera. Lol! 🙂

I am too particular on my picture taking but I have seen the Go-Pro cameras on helmets on motorcyclists and I can see where there is beauty and no place to pull over where they would come in handy. I almost have an anxiety attack on the interstate when it says no stopping….LOL…Guess you need to give a little when you want to do something different.

The last paragraph is so beautiful! Sometimes I become too obsessed with the destination and I forget to enjoy the journey there.
