“Ear-Worm”

Write whatever you usually write about, and weave in a book quote, film quote, or song lyric that’s been sticking with you this week.

Many years ago, the Disney movie Mary Poppins was very successful, and one of the most popular songs is “Just a Spoon full of sugar helps the medicine go down.”
My sister and I loved this song until our mother took it upon herself to use the lyrics whenever we needed medicine.

Our mother boiled a vegetable called “Okra” for my father and it was offered to my siblings and I. We all refused to eat the slimy vegetable. Now, if you don’t know what Okra is or looks like, below is a photo of the slimy vegetable that I detested at the time and to this day.

If the above photo has you going ugh, I can only hope you get the slimy site out of your mine before the Disney jingle sets in your head. 🙂

Okro …very familiar over here in my country. Its a vegetable used to make soup and eaten with home made solid food. e.g yam flour paste. Ilike that bit about a little sugar helps medicine go down. I make my kids take their medicine with beverage tea or soft drink. Wishing you a great new year.

The only way I can eat Okra is fried! Otherwise, I cannot handle eating it. Good post – Happy New Year!
