Lorraine Archer was standing before a full-length mirror contemplating the incredible turn of events that have unfolded in her life.

The mirror reflected the white wedding dress, covering a red under skirting with gold colored sequin designs across her chest and at the bottom of the skirt, representing the Christmas season

The dress is more beautiful than any she had ever imagined as a child when she played with her dolls. Although she has dreamed of this day, she could hardly believe her reflection in the mirror.

Her thoughts drifted to her intended, David Bremmer, who she met when they were in high school. This day became possible a year ago when a chance meeting of the two took place in Corning NY.

David was portraying Santa Clause at the mall when he recognized Lorraine who was standing in line with twin girls around 5-years of age.

After a brief conversation, David asked Lorraine to meet him for coffee. She agreed and their second date was attending a New Years Eve Party where they danced and talked for hours, eventually watching the sunrise and sharing breakfast together.

Even though they lived on opposite ends of the country in the US, David in San Diego, CA, and Lorraine in Fort Myers, Fl. They talked by phone, daily, and since they are both lovers of romantic movies like “An Affair to Remember” and “Sleepless in Seattle” where the couples meet at locations to assure their love is real.

They agreed to meet one another once a month at romantic destinations.

The Bahama’s was their first romantic location, followed by Vail Colorado for a Valentine’s Day weekend. The following months saw their romantic destinations scattered across the US.

As the end of the year approached, Lorraine suggested spending time with their families for Thanksgiving Day weekend in Corning NY. David agreed and suggested Las Vegas for their Christmas destination.

During one evening in Las Vegas, they had dinner at the Eiffel Tower, with views overlooking the Bellagio Water Fountain Display.

After dinner, the waitress appeared with the displays of desserts and
in the middle of the tray was a red and white jewelry ring box.

Several moments of silence, passed as Lorraine stared at the Jewelry box between a chocolate raspberry mousse Cake and a bowl of tiramisu.
David who was seated next to her, slowly went to one knee, asking for Lorraine’s hand in marriage.

Lorraine softly and quickly said yes as they joyously hugged and kissed. The entire room began to clap in applause for the two on their engagement.

David suggested they get married right away in Las Vegas that night. Lorraine protested against the idea, wanting to share her wedding vows with family and friends in Corning NY.

David agreed but insisted on getting married in Las Vegas as a testament to their romantic travels over the past year. Lorraine relented stating the ceremony must be an elegant affair.

Lorraine was awakened from her thoughts when she heard the piano music begin, alerting her to entered the Viva Las Vegas Wedding Chapel.

Once she entered, she was overwhelmed and astonished with disbelief to see both her entire family along with David’s stand as she entered the chapel.

Lorraine’s older brother approached her from behind to hold her arm as her knees became weak from the surprise. He walked her down the aisle.

Her now 6-year-old twin nieces participated in the wedding with one carrying the ring on a red & white embroidered pillow with gold sequins designs matching her dress. The second twin sprinkled red and white rose petals along Lorraine’s path.

When she reached the altar she grabbed David’s hand. David was dressed in an elegant traditional tuxedo. David took some tissue from his pocket and dabbed the tears her face before they turned towards the minister.

The minister acknowledged although David & Lorraine are not the oldest couples he has married. However, they are each marrying for their first time at age 70 which they both are.

Good things do come to those who wait, let us begin.

Wow. Let us recount. Mel & Suan were high school mates holding a crush for each other that both were too shy to express. Years went past after both graduated. One day, Mel was asked by a mutual friend to pass some presents to Suan. It was Christmas time and when Mel met Suan, and he invited her to a company Christmas party. That chance meeting was the beginning of a romance! Love is indeed patient!
