Cling

I’m a wife to a wonderful husband of 12-years, a mother of beautiful twin girls age 4, and a 6-year old boy. By 5:00 am, I’m enjoying my first cup of coffee and, I sit in silence to a quite home and I’m looking forward to the twins afternoon nap and mommy time.

I have taken mommy time, on the rear deck, in the backyard watering my rose’s and the garage where I have found my husband after dinner hiding from our clingy kids and the dog.

Our home is three levels, with four bedrooms, two bathrooms on the third floor, with one bathroom on the first floor and basement. For the past three months, I have played hide and seek with the twins when they wake from their afternoon nap.

With Oscar, a Jack Russell Terrier, in tow, they roam the house searching for me in every room. Lately, I’ve taken afternoon mommy time laying on the floor of the master bedroom closet. I stare up at the dresses, pants suits, blouses surrounded by my shoes.

I cling to the memories of anniversary dinners, Christmas parties, date nights while listening to my twin girls in unison yelling, Mommy! Mommy! Mommy! Mommy Mommy! Mommy! Mommy! Mommy! Mommy! from every room in the house.

Remember when we used to sell children to the Gypsies? Or at least threaten to do so?

Let them hide, while you sip your team and call out, are you here? Where are you?
