“Travel reflections in a Cody Wy Walmart lot.”

Seattle-Candle-Reflection-1030x772Some retirees try to recall memories and thoughts of their adolescent and childhood years. If they are able, they spend the second chapter of their lives fulfilling those dreams of years past. (M.J.Leake)

Reflecting on my 30 years of travel mostly via a motorcycle, I have encountered thousands of people who have used every type or form of transportation known.
They were travelers conquering vast distances in American from the East Coast to the West Coast or from Alaska to Patagonia in South America.
But, the types of vehicles used to cross great distances, has impressed me and they the people I have met who walk, bicycle or the guy I met who was crossing the US on a horse. I have met both walkers and bicyclist who were circumnavigating the earth

Over the years when family and friends ask me about my travels, some are shocked, surprised, and bewildered with my mode of transportation being a motorcycle and recommend a faster mode of transportation like an airplane. There is, of course, the usual questions about the dangers of travel, how did I find fuel, what or where was my sleeping accommodations, and did I find food when ever I was hungry.

There is, of course, the usual questions about the dangers of travel, how did I find fuel, what or where was my sleeping accommodations, and did I find food when ever I was hungry.

As they ask these questions, I tell them of the people who travel by horseback, walk, or bicycle and, how my motorcycle transportation is quite luxurious, I think compared to theirs. I love all travelers, who are fulfilling a dream to explore the planet we live upon to see whats over the horizon, and around the corner.

I love all travelers, who are fulfilling an adventurous dream to explore the planet we live upon to see whats over the horizon, or around the corner.

For all of my encounters with traveler’s, I have come to love and appreciate our conversations, and the friendships developed that have lasted forever. There is a bond between people who wander the planet, and we are a tribe of merry travelers

The following photos are of recent travelers encounters and their forms of transportation during the month of August 2017.

The 2016 King of the Hobos, Ricardo, or Cardo for short and the ring he is given during his reign as king of the “HoBo’s” in 2016. Click the link for more information on the organization. Cardo was heading westward to attend another hobo event. Cardo was sleeping in a 06-Toyota Sienna with the seats taken out and his companion a 12-year-old Labrador mix.

This is an Earthromer, Built on a Ford 550 Chassis and its starting price begins at $438,000. This type of vehicle is for traveling around the world. I was not able to speak with the owners as they slept in.

There is, of course, the usual questions about the dangers of travel, how did I find fuel, what or where was my sleeping accommodations, and did I find food when ever I was hungry.
