“Hiking and Backpacking Fears.”

Advertisements

On many occasions, my family and friends have voiced their concerns about me backpacking or hiking into the forests and deserts.

They fear for my safety of everything and anything from zombie hikers to lions, tigers, and of course, bears.

I see a trail as natures peaceful serenity revealing the visuals of various trees, flora, ground cover of assorted ferns in a wooded climate zone. The deserts reveal the wide open spaces of cacti and thorny ground cover with colors of sand to boggle the mind.

I absorbed the tactile experiences everytime my boots impact the ground crunching with each step along the path with no fear within my heart or mind.

I have no fears when I look towards the sky to see a bird circling above either watching me or stalking its next meal.

I have no fear knowing animals in the area are watching me long before I hear or see them.

I have no fear listening to the winds wrestle leaves upon branches, then falling to the ground masking the sounds of my footsteps.

I have no fear as I ascend a mountaintop with an approaching thunderstorm drenching me in the rain with thunder and lightning all about.

I have no fear, as I have taken precautions and prepared for the possibilities of animal attacks, inclement weather and everything in between.

More importantly, I post written blogs about my adventures alleviating my family and friends fears to know I’m alive. 🙂
