PCT 2019 people and animals

Among the thousands of people hiking the Pacific Crest Trail in 2019, there are also animals, and photographer, Andrew Burns. He is not hiking the trail, but he is developing a photo picture book of hikers of the Pacific Crest Trail. You can follow his current work on Instagram at PCT People Project.

Then there are the various characters who can capture your attention immediately including this cat.

One of the spectacular aspects of the event is seeing the number of dogs who hike with their owners. It is really cool to see dogs of all sizes with their pack strapped to their backs, some with paw booties along with the occasional bird and cat. Yes, cat, like the one in the photo. This guy has been trained to sit comfortably still on her backpack with his tag that says, “Take a Hike.”

I and everyone else was impressed, but in the end, I wonder how many dogs who saw this cat and wondered why can’t my owner carry me on their backpack?

I’m sure the cat drew the curious ire of many dogs and other animals along the trail. 🙂

Lucky cat to be carried. We had a dog who loved going for walks (not as long as your trail) but when he’d had enough he just dug his heels in and refused to walk one step further until we picked him up. He was no lightweight either.
I love the image of the water at trees at the top of this post. It’s glorious.

Thank, it is normal for some dog to just stop on the trail and not go any further. 👌🏾😊
