During my lifetime of travel along the back roads, my reason to stop is best described as “distracted.” by what my eyes witness and I want to learn and discover the details of my initial distraction.

I developed this type of travel during my twenty-five plus years of riding my touring motorcycle across the US wandering from one small town to another. (PS: Motorcycle Memoirs are in development)

I have a fascination to learn the facts of history, causing me to suddenly stop without any planning to send me down the rabbit hole of discovery.

My current travels had me meandering northbound out of Key West Florida when I began stopping at every State Park to allow my eyes to gaze upon the beautiful scenic Straits of Florida which is the deep cold water channel that connects the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean.

My first state park was Bahia Honda where I discovered during the last hurricane, “Irma” produced a storm surge over 8-feet covering the entire park with water. With this knowledge, I wanted to survey, Curry Hammock, Long Key, and John Pennekamp state parks.

I was inspired after witnessing the beauty of each of the parks after the damages incurred by the hurricane, that I stopped along the way at a couple of Starbucks to write this blog post.

Before for long, I was in Key Largo, Fl and everyone familiar with the area knows you have to stop at “Robert Was Here tropical fruit stand,” for one of their lusciously cool and creamy tropical smoothies. Mine was a combination of Pineapple, Coconut, and papaya.

Robersts was here

I continued on toward Big Cypress National Preserve campgrounds for some quiet time where without any distractions, I will write.
